Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Decided to stop in for dinner… great choice! We enjoyed every dish ordered. The passion fruit juice was yummy too. We had the papa la huancaina, ceviche carretillero, chicharron mixto & lomo salteado… delicious! Was worth the 45 min drive, will definitely be back. Dessert pictured tres Leches and alfajor w icecream."
"I’m so proud of this restaurant’s growth. I have been a reoccurring customer since they were located at the Olivers Landing Clubhouse. The food? Nothing like it. I personally love the Linguine a lo Macho and it’s perfect E-V-E-R-Y-T-I-M-E. That’s hard to do. I recently visited their new location in Newton and it was like visiting family. Our favorite waitress was there, who makes the perfect peach martini, and the food continued to wow. I cannot recommend this restaurant and i hope they continue to succeed. They deserve it!"
"Really good place to eat authentic Peruvian food!! I’m from Ecuador and have to say it’s really good, good service too!"
"Phenomenal food and atmosphere! The service was friendly and on point! Did a great job at keeping our drinks topped up too! We will definitely be back!"
"Had a great dinner last night! Very friendly & accommodating servers who went above our expectations, serving our group of eight upstairs. Very nice drinkwear & tableware, which I value. Everyone loved their meals, kids portions were large. Would recommend!"
"So glad to have a restaurant with some variety and is open on Sunday!! The food was incredible! We each had something very different, each dish happened to come with rice and the rice perfectly complimented each individual dish. One was buttery, another citrusy, and another savory. There was no cutting corners when it came to quality of the food and drinks. Even my daughter's "kids meal" was actual chicken diced and breaded. Prices were reasonable considering you are getting quality seafood or steak. We hope to see tables on the patio come springtime for refreshing drinks outdoors."
"So glad to have El Batán Restaurant in Newton! It brings some much-needed international flair to our little town. The atmosphere is laid back, plenty of seating, and the staff is super friendly and attentive. Food Highlights: The Starter: They bring out crunchy roasted corn with sauces instead of chips. I loved this—great texture and didn’t fill me up too much before dinner! Appetizer: The Crispy Cauliflower was lightly fried and absolutely delicious. Tacu Marisquero: My favorite. Rich brown sauce with scallops, shrimp, and squid. Tacu Pollo: A cool Asian twist with a soy-oyster sauce that reminded me of teriyaki. Both entrees came with a delicious rice & beans mix (tacu-tacu seasoning). Not overly fancy, but the food was a hit and the service was spot-on. I will definitely be back!"
"El Batan in Newton is a breath of fresh air compared to many of the newer restaurants in the area. From the moment we walked in, the service was friendly and attentive. Our food came out quickly, was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the overall experience felt smooth and well-run. It’s refreshing to find a place that gets both service and food right. We’ll definitely be back and will be recommending it to others."
